I worked on an EIR for expansion of the Chuckawalla Valley State Prison near Blythe in eastern Riverside County. The prison occupies approximately 125 acres and has a design capacity of 1738 inmates; current population in 2019 is 2733. Chuckawalla Valley State Prison is comprised of four Level II Non-Designated Programming Facility Yards and one Level I Non-Designated Programming Facility Yard, and also operates a fire house, water treatment plant, waste water treatment plant, vehicle maintenance garage and services via Prison Industry Authority (PIA). In addition to the EIR, my work also included an economic and fiscal impacts analysis for Blythe and Riverside County using an input-output model.
